Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the architecture of NJM’s Enterprise Products which include document imaging, creation, routing and transformation as well as supervising and managing staff. This role will participate in all phases of the application development lifecycle and work collaboratively to implement robust solutions and integration of enterprise products with other business applications. NJM title: Assistant Supervisor, Product Development.
Job Responsibilities
Ability to understand complex business problems and drive the translation of those business problems into innovative technology solutions within a multidisciplinary environment.
Create, maintain and enforce NJM’s Enterprise Products - architecture, standards and best practices with a strong focus on workflow and integration patterns.
Produce detailed architecture and design documents to present the complete technology solution for a product/solution.
Provide architectural guidance, technical direction, leadership and hands-on involvement and development throughout the design and development of solutions, including all phases of document processing (e.g. scanning, indexing, workflow, integration etc). Includes providing design direction, leading formal code review sessions and proof of concepts, as well as performing technology evaluations. Provide high quality, timely estimates for project tasks, activities, and deliverables. Determine the breakdown of different technical tasks needed to provide complete solutions. Validate team member estimates and ensure adherence to SDLC processes.
Actively collaborate with other architects and technical leads to ensure design approach is well thought out and follows NJM’s guidelines and best practices.
Supervision: Perform supervisory functions such as administrative tasks, setting goals, evaluating performance, coaching, build and maintain development plans, facilitate regular staff meeting as well as individual meetings. Oversee staff assignments to ensure quality of work and to provide support as needed to assist in overcoming issues.
Solution Governance: Ensure the creation and maintenance of standard processes and procedures for implementing and supporting packaged solutions. Ensure functional and operational responsibilities are clearly defined and assigned to appropriate staff.
Job Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering required.
8 to 10 years of experience in theITindustry developing or maintaining business applications/solutions with a focus on P&C Insurance.
Solid technology background in a Microsoft environment (IIS, ASP.NET,AJAX, XML, Web Services, C#, C , etc).
Application development expertise with VB, VB.Net, VB Script, VBA, XSLT, XPath, SQL Server, HTML, Javascript, Concepts ofAPI’s, document workflow, Team Foundation Server, and Visual Studio.
Some experience with staff management.
Proven experience and expertise with software development lifecycles which include design of solutions using sound architecture concepts, configuration/coding of applications, writing and execution of test case and plans and the delivery of software solutions. Experience with performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability and automation.
Experience supporting package solutions in an enterprise environment preferred.
Experience with Document Management & Imaging and/or Correspondence package solutions (e.g. FileNet, Documentum, OnBase, Kofax, xPression, Document Sciences), is a plus
Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, decision making and problem solving skills.
