About Risk, Finance and Treasury
Data Fabric, Analytics & Reporting (FAR) is the RFT data layer which incorporates a streamlined analytics capability together with a central reporting utility. FARâ€™s central mission is to provide services that are responsible for capturing, transforming, sharing and distributing data and information to our Technology and business stakeholders. FAR is responsible for the development of a scalable, coherent set of horizontal offerings to support the larger RFT objectives around the Data Fabric, Pricing / Risk Analytics and Reporting.
More specifically FAR must:
Maintain a strong partnership with other RFT technology teams to help them realize the benefits of the horizontal offerings in their deliverables
Provide a focused Risk Delivery capability to facilitate the execution of the Flourish and Regulatory priorities for the IB businesses
Work on the Bankâ€™s Data agenda and specific functional deliveries throughout the year which are aligned to our strategic technology
Improve stability and controls on production systems delivered on shared platforms
Services consist of the ability to capture, transform, share and distribute data and information to our technology and business stakeholders. Within the FAR function there are a number of key work-streams, including Risk Generation, Risk Publication, Market Data and Static Services, Trade Object Services, Streaming Pricing and Price Generation.
Overall Purpose of role
A developer is being sought to join the FAR Macro and FIF Risk and Pricing Delivery team based in New York to build out Barclays strategic market data and volatility publishing platform, Pivot. The successful candidate will join this agile team primarily as a full stack developer, interfacing with various groups across Front Office, Quantitative Analytics and IT to analyse and understand complex business requirements, and designing and delivering various projects from inception to production.
Â· Design and Development: Undertaking a design and development role to continue the build out of the strategic Pivot platform, designing and implementing solutions for specific projects, as well as contributing to the overall system design and architecture.
Â· Stakeholder management â€“ Working directly with front office trading, operations and other business users to collect requirements and provide regular status updates and support.
Â· Support â€“ Working quickly to solve production problems with sound analytical thinking.
Â· Technical expertise â€“ Introducing and adopting best practices in software development, and collaborating with the team to ensure consistent adoption of best practices.
Â· Quality Assurance â€“ Designing solutions using a test-driven approach, and driving quality within the team, providing constructive feedback to your colleagues.
Â· Continuous Improvement - Identifying improvements to the production stack and ensure they are well represented in prioritisation forums.
Â· Ensure the successful timely delivery of Pivot core services to a high level of quality
Â· Ensure adherence to bank technical standards & SDLC
Â· Ensure quality and efficiency through all stages of the development lifecycle
Â· Ensure documentation and communication of changes
Â· Instil a proactive view to identification and resolution of issues
Â· Assisting in analysing requirements to find the most appropriate technical solutions
Â· Own problems and drive through solutions
Â· Working with the business, analysts, peers and project managers to understand and deliver requirements
Â· Engage with the business to identify detailed level plans and critical activities
Â· Maintain positive stakeholder relationships
Â· Maintain and build partnerships with level 1, level 2 support and other IT areas
Â· Ensure compliance to internal and external (regulatory) standards
Â· Bachelorâ€™s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Â· 5 years of experience and excellent C# development skills
Â· 5 years of experience with WPF and UI Development
Â· 3 years of experience building distributed systems in the financial services sector.
Â· Background in Finance/Maths/Statistics or Advanced degree (MS or higher)
Â· Fixed Income knowledge
Â· Knowledge of investment banking, option pricing, market data publishing
Â· Experience working with and integrating Quantitative Analytics libraries.
Â· Familiarity with GIT, TeamCity, SonarCube, JIRA
