Job Summary & Responsibilities
• Design, implement and support software that can perform the processing of securities as well as clearance and settlement of Fixed Income and Equity trading businesses.
• Object-oriented software design.
• Implementation of real-time data processing software using Java, relational databases and my clients' high performance messaging infrastructure.
• Implementation of UI software using .NET and web technologies.
• Interact with Clearance Operations users, in order to understand their business requirements.
• When required, take part in cross-application user acceptance tests.
• Be prepared to support and maintain production applications.
• Perform technical coaching of less experienced developers.
• Help the team to build quality applications by encouraging a test-driven, iterative approach to software development.
• Participate in technical discussions with other developers; keep up-to-date with new software technologies and methodologies.
Basic Qualifications
• At least 3 years of solid experience of in Java development, including JTA and JDBC.
• Experience with relational database development, including SQL. Specific experience with IBM UDB or Sybase is an advantage.
• Experience of using UNIX or Linux systems, including basic shell programming.
• Good knowledge of object-orientated design techniques.
• Good verbal communication skills: ability to interact face-to-face with senior users; to argue a case on a global conference call; to make a presentation to 20 people.
• Good written communication skills: ability to write discussion documents and technical design documents for large global audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of the following technologies is desired, but optional: Hibernate ,XML, Eclipse, FitNesse, Groovy.
• Existing experience of in the Securities industry in general and of clearance and settlement in particular is an advantage.
• Proficiency with .NET framework and C# development
